Patrick's Point SP

We spent only one day in Lassen Volcanic NP as it started raining there so heavily, that the hikes to Lassen Peak and Brokeoff Mountain that we planned for the following days would not make sense. Not only they wouldn't have been pleasant, but also they would have become dangerous due to slippery rock surfaces. Hence, after consulting the park rangers, we decided to head for the coast. Initially we planned to go camping and hiking in Humboldt Redwoods SP, but after reading the absolutely amazing and most helpful Moon's guidebook "California Hiking", we decided to go to Patrick's Point SP instead.

That was an excellent choice and I would highly recommend visit (and camping) at Patrick's Point SP to anybody. The park is unbelievably beautiful and in many ways it reminded me of Hawaii. Especially it's Rim Trail (5-mile long, out and back) was fantastic and very similar to a NaPali Coast hike that I did last year on Kauai. As the name suggest, the Rim Trail traces the Pacific Coastline and offers fantastic views. It also gives you several chances (five, to be precise) to go down to the beach and enjoy the beauty of the coast from a different perspective or to check out tide pools. Below are some pictures that will hopefully encourage you to visit the park.
